Each year The Gloucestershire Business Show likes to focus on one or two of the county’s exciting business innovations that are appearing that will make a real impact on the county as they come to market.

Three Gloucestershire businesses, experts in digital media, graphic design and videography hatched an idea following an Event Programme session at #GBS17 and have been collaborating on an exciting product using augmented reality. It has the scope to support food provenance and the integrity of the offering in a supermarket, restaurant or any food outlet.

Imagine having the ability to use your mobile phone to capture a pack of sandwiches, a food label, QR code or Barcode and have the ability to see the farm where it was produced, hear from the growers or see the chef at work in his kitchen where it was produced. Their aim is for the consumer to have access to this information at their fingertips.

It all supports food provenance and the ability to know that you’re not only buying great quality Gloucestershire produce, but you’re also keeping your spend in the county and helping local businesses to be sustainable, to grow and to contribute further themselves to the county’s economy.

The team are working with business development partners in Gloucestershire and we’ll be seeing how the product is developing at #GBS18 with some great demonstrations of their developing capabilities.
