Thinking about Brand…..  Workshop #1

Neil Morgan and the team behind the “thinking about brand” thread run the first of two workshops to unpack and examine their findings from the Thinking about brand 2020 Survey.

There will be some discussion with a panel of professionals involved in different areas of brand values, identity and development and then each of the professionals will host their own table to discuss and explore an area of the subject.

Following the first discussion, the room will move to another table and discuss another aspect of brand and brand management.  Then repeat again.

The audience will have a chance to be involved in and contribute to stimulating discussions about brand, how it’s used and how it can improve all our business worlds.

Business Declares a Climate Emergency Part 1

If you want to make a real commitment to reducing the environmental impact of your business, where and how do you start?

Declaring a Climate Emergency could just be just the catalyst you need to get things moving in your business.

Eoin McQuone, Gill Smith and Caroline Aistrop will facilitate a workshop to help you explore the practicalities of declaring a climate emergency in your business and what it might mean for your business going forward.

We need to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and to zero by 2050 to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees (IPCC 2019) to avoid the worst effects of climate change. This isn’t about saving the planet, but a sensible and vital risk management strategy.

This will be a practical, interactive workshop in which participants will work through step-by-step to explore what declaring a climate emergency in their business might mean and how they might go about it most effectively. Each participant will take away a workbook that can serve as a draft plan for declaring a climate emergency in their business.

ClimateEmergency@GBS20 is a collaboration between the Gloucestershire Business Show 2020 and Go Climate Positive, aiming to get Gloucestershire Businesses engaged with the effort to address the challenges of climate change in a positive way.

Pitching Business – The Dragon’s Den

We’re all familiar with The Dragon’s Den on TV….. #GBS20 sees our own version of Dragon’s Den with an opportunity for six business ideas from students and young people to be pitched to our real-life Business Dragons.

The business ideas that are pitched will be judged and a winner announced. This event is about the experience for young entrepreneurs in pitching to business leaders who have been there and lived the journey. We don’t have an investment pot on offer, but if your business idea is good enough……..

We hope that Young Enterprise teams, business studies student teams or individual business students will enter to pitch their unique idea, aim to win and get some great advice on dealing with the cut and thrust business world.

The Dragons:

Des Coates of Oliver Coates is a business owner and venture capitalist with interests across hotels, hospitality, fashion and technology.
